On October 16, 2018, the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, People’s Bank of China, State Administration for Market Regulation, China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing jointly released the list of National Pilot Enterprises for Supply Chain Innovation and Application (Document No. [2018]654). IBI, along with companies such as Alibaba, JD.com, and TCL, was successfully selected among 269 enterprises nationwide.
National Strategy for Supply Chain Innovation
According to the Guiding Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Actively Promoting Supply Chain Innovation and Application (Guobanfa [2017] No. 84) issued on October 13, 2017, by 2020 China aims to form a number of supply chain technologies and models suited to national conditions, build an intelligent supply chain system covering key industries, and cultivate about 100 globally leading supply chain enterprises, positioning China as a major global center for supply chain innovation and application.
To implement these goals, on April 17, 2018, eight ministries jointly launched the selection of pilot cities and enterprises (Document No. [2018]142). The key mission of pilot enterprises is to apply modern information technologies, innovate supply chain technologies and models, build collaborative industrial platforms, enhance integration and coordination across industries, and promote a complete, efficient, and environmentally friendly supply chain ecosystem that drives cost reduction, efficiency improvement, green development, and industrial upgrading.
Smart and Green Supply Chains
Smart supply chains and green supply chains are at the core of future supply chain development. In alignment with the national pilot requirements, IBI will fully implement the spirit of the Guiding Opinions, focusing on the integration, transformation, and upgrading of traditional industries. Based on its Industrial E-commerce and Industrial Internet platforms, IBI will further promote the convergence of traditional supply chains with the Internet and Internet of Things, accelerate innovation in supply chain technologies and models, and advance the development of smart and green supply chains to achieve cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and sustainable transformation. IBI aims to become one of the top 100 globally leading supply chain enterprises cultivated by the Chinese government.
