The “2nd Global Metaverse Conference and the Founding Forum of the Metaverse 30” was successfully held from May 14 to 15, 2022. Qian Xiaojun, President of IBI, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled “Industrial Internet and the Metaverse.”

As China’s first cross-temporal and cross-industry global dialogue on the metaverse, the conference was themed “Creating a New Universe.” It focused on trending applications such as virtual humans, digital twins, and digital art, as well as underlying technologies including blockchain, AI, and XR hardware. Discussions revolved around key topics such as the metaverse industry ecosystem, digital civilization, industrial technologies, business models, and application scenarios. The conference aimed to accelerate industrial and governmental transformation, promote innovation in China’s and the global metaverse industries, and contribute to China’s economic transformation, high-quality growth, and global digital governance.

Notable attendees included Shang Bing, President of the Internet Society of China, and Lin Zuoming, President of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Over 100 opinion leaders, scholars, experts, executives from leading technology companies, and media representatives participated from renowned research institutions, universities, industry associations, and think tanks.

On the afternoon of May 15, as an Executive Council Member of the “Metaverse 30 Forum,” President Qian Xiaojun delivered his keynote speech on “Industrial Internet and the Metaverse.” The following are excerpts from his address:

Key Insights from the Speech

❊ 1. Industrial digitalization is an irreversible trend.
The deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy is a core driver of the new wave of industrial transformation. The Industrial Internet represents a vital pathway for industrial development in the digital era. Based on digital technologies, it deeply integrates into industrial, supply, and value chains. Centered on customer demand and driven by transactions and orders, it realizes full-chain, full-process, full-scenario, and full-lifecycle digital connectivity between online and offline networks. Through data, algorithms, and computing power, the Industrial Internet builds dual engines of C2B (customer-to-business) and B2C (business-to-customer) to match and create demand efficiently.

❊ 2. The “Industrial Metaverse” is an extension of industrial digitalization.
Digital transaction scenarios, digital factories, intelligent manufacturing, industrial VR, digital supply chains, and digital business personas—all these digital twin-based applications fall under the scope of the Industrial Metaverse.

❊ 3. The Industrial Metaverse will be supported by five key pillars:
data infrastructure, simulation engines, intelligent cores, hardware carriers, and open collaborative ecosystems.
In the production paradigm, manufacturing upgrades will move from physical iterations to metaverse-based simulations, dramatically reducing innovation costs and unlocking creative potential.
In the optimization paradigm, the metaverse will break down data silos, transforming fragmented, single-point optimization into full-chain collaborative optimization—greatly improving industrial efficiency.

❊ 4. Metaverse technologies such as digital twins, digital companions, and digital natives will reshape industrial R&D and operations.
Their application across design, procurement, production, marketing, logistics, and after-sales will revolutionize innovation in materials, equipment, and processes.
IBI is particularly focused on the deep application of these foundational technologies within industrial and supply chains—especially in advancing digital twin, companion, and native systems in industrial domains. This aligns with the company’s Platform–Technology–Data strategy and the ongoing construction of digital factories. The convergence of metaverse technologies and the real economy will unlock even greater value.

❊ 5. “MetaEnterprise”: IBI’s exploration of the Industrial Metaverse.
“MetaEnterprise” is IBI’s independently developed industrial metaverse project, powered by technologies such as digital twins and blockchain. It aims to drive digital upgrades of industrial and supply chains by creating virtual counterparts of factories, manufacturing systems, and supply networks. Within immersive virtual environments, users can conduct training, digital transactions, production-line simulations, process redesign, product innovation, and business scenario modeling—comprehensively enhancing the digital experience and operational efficiency of industrial enterprises.

President Qian concluded that the Industrial Metaverse represents the next frontier of industrial innovation, where digital intelligence, industrial collaboration, and immersive interaction converge to redefine the future of manufacturing and trade.
