Liu Quan, Chairman of IBI, Invited to Attend and Deliver a Speech at the North American Mingde Forum

On November 11, 2023, the North American Mingde Forum, one of the most influential forums for Chinese universities in the United States, was held at the Harvard Club in Manhattan, New York. Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China, delivered a video speech. The conference was organized by Wu Yafeng, President of the North American Alumni Association of Renmin University of China and alumnus of the class of 1995, among others.

Li Shanquan, a highly influential Chinese-American fund manager on Wall Street, founder of the North American Alumni Association of Renmin University of China, and alumnus of the class of 1978, delivered a keynote speech. Yu Yougen, Educational Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in New York; Li Deshun, Chairman of the North American Alumni Association of Renmin University of China, President of Benimax Investment, and alumnus of the class of 1978; and Liu Quan, Chairman of IBI, Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, and alumnus of the class of 1994, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Representatives from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Nankai University and other universities were also present to express their congratulations.

The North American Alumni Association of Renmin University of China (RUCNAAA) was registered in Delaware, USA in June 2015, with its operating headquarters located in New York City. Its main members are distributed in major cities across the United States and Canada, providing an online and offline platform for tens of thousands of alumni in North America to communicate, share information, and interact with mutual care. In December 2018, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter specially wrote to RUCNAAA: "Forty years ago, it was hard to imagine that an elite Chinese university like Renmin University could establish such an active and strong alumni association in the United States. Through your alumni association, it can be proved how much progress China has made and what achievements a country can make by investing in education."

This conference was held just before the meeting between the Chinese and U.S. presidents at APEC in San Francisco, making it particularly significant. Many elite alumni from Wall Street shared their outlook on the future global economy and investment and conducted in-depth discussions on the development of China-U.S. relations.

During his stay in the United States, Mr. Liu Quan also paid visits to Mr. Long Shengde, son of Long Yun and alumnus of Renmin University of China from the class of 1952, and the widow of Mr. Ezra Vogel, a renowned American sinologist, sociologist, and the second director of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University.
