IBI Elected as Vice Chair Unit of the Ministry of Commerce Digital Commerce Industry Standardization Technical Committee
To implement the Digital Commerce Three-Year Action Plan (2024–2026), the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) recently established the Digital Commerce Industry Standardization Technical Committee. Guided by the Department of E-commerce and Informatization of MOFCOM, the committee aims to advance the standardization process in the field of digital commerce and promote its high-quality development. The Department of E-commerce and Informatization of MOFCOM serves as the Chair Unit of the committee, while IBI, together with the China International Electronic Commerce Center, the China Electronics Standardization Institute, the National Urban Industrial Products Trade Center Union, and the Hangzhou Institute of Standardization, has been elected as a Vice Chair Unit. The China International Electronic Commerce Center serves as the Secretariat Unit.
On April 26, MOFCOM issued the Digital Commerce Three-Year Action Plan (2024–2026), stating that digital commerce is the most dynamic, innovative, and widely applied component of the digital economy. It is the concrete practice of the digital economy in the commercial sector and serves as an implementation path for digital development across all areas of commerce. Through five key initiatives — “Strengthening the Digital Commerce Foundation,” “Expanding Digital Commerce Consumption,” “Boosting Digital Commerce in Trade,” “Empowering Industries with Digital Commerce,” and “Opening Up Digital Commerce” — the plan seeks to foster new productive forces, innovate digital transformation pathways, enhance the effectiveness of digital empowerment, improve digital support services, build a digital commerce ecosystem, and comprehensively raise the level of digitalization, networking, and intelligence in commerce, thereby strengthening and expanding China’s digital economy.
The “Strengthening the Digital Commerce Foundation” initiative of the plan explicitly calls for establishing and improving a digital commerce standards system, leveraging the Digital Commerce Industry Standardization Technical Committee, issuing guidelines for industry standardization work, accelerating the development of standards in key areas of commerce digitalization, promoting the implementation and application of standards, and improving industry management and service quality. It also emphasizes strengthening the business credit system and brand building, enhancing the quality of digital commerce, developing compliance guidelines for e-commerce enterprises, guiding enterprises to operate legally and compliantly, and promoting the standardized and healthy development of the industry.
As a practitioner of the digital economy, IBI will align closely with the overall requirements of the Digital Commerce Three-Year Action Plan, actively participate in the work of the Digital Commerce Industry Standardization Technical Committee, leverage its resource advantages in the industrial digital economy, and use its industrial internet chain-leader role to contribute to the five key initiatives of strengthening, expanding, boosting, empowering, and opening up digital commerce.
