Beijing Natural Science Foundation Fengtai Joint Innovation Fund: IBI Supports University R&D and Empowers Industrial Digitalization Upgrades
On November 1, at the Innovation and Development Conference of the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Fengtai Joint Innovation Fund, IBI’s technical team engaged in in-depth discussions with more than 20 experts and professors from Tsinghua University, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, among others, on funded projects, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beihang University.
The Beijing Natural Science Foundation Fengtai Joint Innovation Fund operates under the framework of the Municipal Foundation–Fengtai Joint Fund. In this model, leading technology enterprises identify (“pose”) technical challenges encountered during their development, and through the joint fund platform, outstanding research teams are publicly selected to provide solutions (“answer”). This approach fosters organic integration between basic research and industrial development while promoting the construction of an industrial ecosystem.
On April 28 this year, at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, and Fengtai District Government, together with IBI and four other leading technology enterprises and three unicorn companies, signed an agreement to jointly contribute RMB 250 million to establish the Beijing Natural Science Foundation Fengtai Joint Innovation Fund. The fund focuses on supporting cutting-edge research in fields such as the digital economy, commercial aerospace, rail transit, intelligent manufacturing, and high-end medical equipment.
